Affordable Housing Study - Gold Coast Posted on February 14, 2014

In November 2013, RDA Gold Coast commissioned MacroPlan Dimasi to prepare a concise report on the key issues around the supply of affordable housing in the city.

The report was to inform on the current issues and gaps in the supply of affordable housing and to provide information to major stakeholders in a effort to find effective solutions to the supply of housing.

A copy of the report can be found here and we welcome feedback from the community. Please email with your comments.

The report contains:

  • An analysis of the current issues; construction and approval of dwellings below baseline demand in recent years during the economic downturn; gaps in supply and future demand for retirement housing or public housing
  • A definition of affordable housing - market for purchase and rental market
  • Analysis of the effect of cost of living in the region
  • Demographcs and housing need
  • Social trends and changes in housing need
  • Barriers to provision of affordable housing
  • Recommended options to deliver affordable housing in the city.

Some final consultations are being undertaken by RDA Gold Coast and we look forward to delivering an official launch of the Study in the near future.
