Digital Enterprise Program Posted on April 5, 2013

The Minister for Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy, Senator Stephen Conroy, yesterday called for applications from service providers to deliver the fourth round of the Digital Enterprise program.

Applications are welcomed from the three communities of Gosford (NSW), Gold Coast (QLD), and Wollongong (NSW). Organisations that are eligible for funding under this program are listed at Section 7 of the program guidelines below.

The Digital Enterprise program will provide grant funding of $10 million to service providers to provide training to assist small-to-medium enterprises and not-for-profit organisations in over 40 communities that benefit from the NBN, where work on the rollout has already commenced.

The Digital Enterprise program will provide training through initial group introductory seminars on the benefits of doing business online and how to get online for business purposes, including how to take advantage of the opportunities provided by the NBN.  This will be followed by a graduated series of seminars on key topic areas such as:

  • cloud computing;
  • tools for person-to-person visual communication online for business purposes;
  • online ‘television style’ advertising;
  • teleworking; and
  • accessing overseas markets.

Additional group training seminars may be conducted if popular topics are identified, with a particular focus on local business interests. Following attendance at training seminars, participating organisations will be eligible to receive a further 4 hours of tailored one-on-one training.

The program was established to contribute to the Australian Government's vision for Australia as a leading global digital economy by 2020. In particular, this program is designed to contribute to the Digital Economy Goal that by 2020 Australia ranks in the top five OECD countries in relation to the percentage of businesses and not-for-profit organisations, using online opportunities to drive productivity improvements, expand their customer base and enable jobs growth.
