The role of the Director of Regional Development with Regional Development Australia (RDA) Gold Coast is now open for applications.




Regional Development Australia (RDA) is an Australian Government Initiative that brings together all levels of government to enhance the development of Australia’s regions. A national network of over 50 RDA Committees has been established to achieve this objective. RDA Gold Coast is an Incorporated Association.

In the past months, the Australian Government has implemented a number of reforms to the RDA program. The RDA Committees are moving forward under a new Charter which focuses on growing strong and confident regional economies that harness their competitive advantages, seize on economic opportunity and attract investment. The new Charter will see RDA’s taking a more active and facilitative role within their community.

The newly created position of Director of Regional Development is a key role with the RDA Gold Coast that works with all levels of government and key regional influencers to support and enhance the
Gold Coast’s strong growth by harnessing its competitive advantages, seizing on economic opportunities and attracting investment.

This role will have direct responsibility for delivering the objectives and outcomes required under the RDA Charter.


To be successful

You will demonstrate high levels of successful commercial, economic and political acumen supported by exceptional hands-on communication, negotiation, stakeholder management, problem-solving and leadership competencies.

You will have a minimum of five years management responsibility that includes developing and implementing strategic and business plans and accountability for organisational operations and budgets. No formal qualifications are required, however, a degree in business, communications, planning or regional development would be an advantage. Experience in community, economic and/ or regional development will be well-regarded.



You will be based on the Gold Coast and supported by a small team with responsibility for managing the day-to-day operations of the organisation, identifying economic opportunities, leveraging private and public-sector investment and developing / implementing activities aligned with the RDA Gold Coast strategic plan.

The successful applicant will be required to undergo a National Police Records Check prior to commencing employment.
