The Gold Coast Regional Roadmap is a clear, practical plan for achieving sustainable economic and social development in this region.

Developed by RDA Gold Coast through an extensive consultation process with government, business and community stakeholders, it identifies current issues and challenges for the Gold Coast, and outlines seven focus areas for action:

  1. Economic diversity: Attracting new and emerging industries, encouraging growth   and diversification of existing industries.

  2. Infrastructure: Encouraging infrastructure to support growth.

  3. Town planning: Encouraging streamlined and improved processes to support new economic activity whilst ensuring a high quality built environment.

  4. Affordable housing: Influencing development of innovative and creative housing options that are more affordable.

  5. Community: Collaborating to build strong, inclusive and supportive communities.

  6. Education/Training: Encouraging increased education and training opportunities especially in the key sectors of health, information technology and environmental management.

  7. De-regulation: Facilitating discussions to reduce difficult regulatory processes and provide incentives to encourage growth and development.

RDA Gold Coast works as a catalyst for progress in these areas by engaging with and bringing together regional stakeholders to work on common goals. Our activities include: developing and driving strategic partnerships and cross-sector working groups on specific issues; leveraging business and community networks to add value to existing initiatives and programs; raising awareness of critical issues and holding community forums to explore solutions; undertaking further research; and promoting new opportunities through local networks.

The Roadmap also provides a clear reference point for the Australian and Queensland Governments on the needs and priorities for the Gold Coast region; this enables appropriate policies, programs and initiatives to be put in place to directly address those needs, with the Committee playing an important role as regional advocate.

As a document that responds to the changing economic, social and environmental circumstances of the region, this Roadmap will be reviewed through on-going consultation and engagement with stakeholders on the Gold Coast, and will be updated annually.
