New leadership for RDA Gold Coast

Former media manager Nick Scott has taken over one of the city’s most influential community and investment attraction bodies, announced as the new chairman of RDA Gold Coast.

Mr Scott will join RDA Gold Coast’s new Director of Regional Development Estella Rodighiero, formerly the Senior Economic Development Officer (Commonwealth Games) at City of Gold Coast.

RDAs are an Australian Government initiative to harness the competitive advantages of regions, seize on economic opportunities and attract investment.

RDA Gold Coast is part of a national network of 52 committees made up of local leaders who work with all levels of government, business and organisations to support the development of their regions.

RDA Gold Coast will connect Gold Coast businesses and industry sectors with international trade partners, financial markets and potential investors, and engaging with regional entrepreneurs and business leaders to identify opportunities which will lead to job creation and growth.

Mr Scott said he was looking forward to steering the body in a new direction with a focus on bringing new industry and employment to the city and continuing to leverage work to articulate priorities, identify and align resources, engage stakeholders and promote solutions. In doing this RDA GC aims to support the growth and development of the Gold Coast.

“There’s a lot of opportunities in our region and supported by the board and with the leadership of Estella, I see this as culminating in significant investment for the Gold Coast,” he said.

Ms Rodighiero said the Gold Coast was entering into an exciting new phase following the Games and looked forward to seeing the city evolve its reputation as a global destination for trade and innovation.

Prior to joining as executive director, her role was to deliver high value business leads to the Gold Coast during Trade 2018 Games’ Time Trade and Investment Program and extend global networks, connect with business networks and support delivery of the Trade 2018 Games Time Business program.

Mr Scott is on the board of Gold Coast Tourism and Bond University Business School was the former general manager of Southern Cross Austereo – Gold Coast, charged with the ongoing management of 90.9 Sea FM and 92.5 Gold FM, Southern Cross Ten, One, Eleven.

Previous to Mr Scott’s appointment, Mr Craig Devlin held the chair position for seven years. Mr Scott thanked Craig for his outstanding guidance and contribution to the growth and development of the Gold Coast.
