Your Business, Your Energy Survey Results

Regional Development Australia (RDA) recently partnered with Ergon Energy Network and Energex to better understand the experiences, challenges and energy priorities of businesses across Queensland.

The Your Business, Your Energy Survey, conducted earlier this year, captured feedback from 156 businesses across a range of industries. While most businesses reported being satisfied with their electricity services, many highlighted challenges in understanding energy costs and making informed energy decisions with confidence.

Reliable electricity continues to be essential for business success, with 62% of respondents indicating a high level of satisfaction with the reliability of their electricity supply highly. However, when power outages do occur, businesses reported significant impacts, including lost productivity, disruption to IT systems and reduced revenue.

Energy costs remain a key concern, with 56% of businesses identifying electricity as one of their top three cost pressures. Support to help reduce energy costs emerged as the highest priority for many respondents.

The survey also revealed growing interest in renewable and energy-efficient technologies. Of those businesses who participated in the survey 60% said they are likely to invest in solutions such as solar, battery storage or energy-efficiency upgrades within the next three years. While potential cost savings are a strong motivator, upfront investment costs and uncertainty around returns continue to present barriers.

Across Queensland, businesses who participated in the survey consistently told us they want:

• Support to better manage energy costs
• A better understanding of pricing and tariffs
• Access to trusted energy advice
• Assistance to adopt new technologies
• Upgrades to electricity infrastructure that supports business growth
